They almost boast about it in Ninh Thuan Province: they don’t have a winter. And statistics prove them right. Head for the central Vietnamese province and you’ll find the evidence not far away. Proof positive, locals will tell you, and proudly, of why the area can notch up the lowest annual rainfall of the country – a mere 700mm.That, they say, is something to boast about. And to that they’ll add a few more bald – and perhaps dry, statistics: it enjoys only 50 rainy days a year and has an average temperature of 27 Celsius. "No winter at all," as one local put it. But they don’t just bask in that: Ninh Thuan is acknowledged for its goat and cow breeding, and handicrafts – all destined for an export market. Add to that the grapes, the cashews, and the blue dragon fruit and you’re in the locals’ heaven. But they got there first – and are dining out on it. But you’re welcome to visit. And they’ll be glad to welcome you. To their Garden of Eden.1
